 Jim Young and Sarah Young are the founders of Van Hollow Pottery offering pottery classes and creating handmade stoneware including Extreme Forms or large eramic works that have architectural value for special display opportunities as well as day-to-day functional items including bistro cups, serving bowls, sculpted vases, hanging platters, garlic graters and a vast array of other items. Van Hollow Pottery is located on the Van Hollow arm of scenic Beaver Lake in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas.

Sarah's expertise is creating innovative surface designs on the pottery.  Together they produce functional handmade pottery - high-fire stoneware and porcelain - for everyday use and unique gifts.

Classes: Jim also runs a teaching studio offering clay classes of all skill levels. learn all phases of handmade pottery ...pinch pots, coil pots, slab constructions, and wheel thrown pots.  The studio offers a  wide range of glazes and firing techniques including raku and high-fire reduction stoneware . Jim is an Artist listed in the Arkansas Arts in Education program.  Click here for our studio CLASS SCHEDULES.       Journeys: Throughout the ages potters have served their communities by transforming clay into beautiful, durable, and functional art forms. Pottery is everywhere.  Jim and Sarah have had the privilege of travel and an opportunity to view the similarities and differences of pottery cultures worldwide.  The "Journeys" section of this site as well as  "A Pottery History" provide a glimpse into this exploration.  Sarah's brief travel videos offer insight into the art and culture.
